Broadcom PIPA  Pure IP Audio is designed to allow the use of up to 4 IP Ethernet circuits for distributing and/or contributing audio. PIPA has a negligable effect on path latency and is compatable with any IP audio codec working with the RTP standard. This allows customers to use much more cost effective ADSL technology in order to get the same level of end to end signal delivery service as usually provided by more expensive managed or leased line IP connectivity for Studio To Transmitter and contribution links.

PIPA DOES NOT AGGREGATE circuits, it does precisely the opposite allowing the traffic to pass on multiple routes and presenting 1 Pure IP stream to the connected equipment be it an Audio codec or Video codec, YES works with Video too. As long as all circuits do not fail at the same moment in time for the same amount of time your signal WILL GET THROUGH!!

PIPA may be used with up to four independent IP connections; the more used, the more robust the connection. The connections can be via LANs, WANs, Internet, or a mix. Programme paths are independent and may use different bit rates to suit the audio quality required.
