The high-performance ONYX Series Fibre Routing Switcher is suited for environments that use fibre to carry complete end-to-end digital video and audio. Switching sizes range from 8×8 to 128×128. It supports data rates up to 3.2Gbps.
The switcher is modular designed. Each slot can hold one FOB-8 Module (8 Channel I/O Module) with eight LC connectors. The switcher is compatible with both Multi-Mode (MM) and Single-Mode (SM). MM supports multi-mode fibre (MMF) of 850nm wavelength for transmission distance up to 500 ft (approx 150 m). SM supports single-mode fibre (SMF) of 1310nm wavelength for transmission distance up to 98360 ft (30 km). SM also supports MMF.
The switcher supports By-Pass. It is controlled through the local front panel or the supporting control applications for normal switching. However, if there is a channel problem or Cross-Point Switching Module failure, it can perform point-to-point by-pass protection for input to that channel or for all inputs. Thus the program output can be maintained, ensuring system safety and reliability.
Multiple control interfaces include RS-232/422, TCP/IP, CAN and C-BUS. Three frame versions are available: 2RU, 4RU and 8RU. ONYX Series Fibre Routing Switcher supports redundant control and power supply
